SIR – Political prostitution of principles. That is the only way to describe the Liberal and Conservative deal on Worcester City Council (Worcester News, May 10).

These parties openly opposed each other in Claines and yet here they are in the same political bed together.

Just as in the national Government at Westminster, the two parties’ only concern is to retain power.

The electorate has already indicated its opposition to this nationally and I am certain that both these parties will suffer locally next time. One thing is for sure, UKIP will not let the electorate forget.

The Green Party representative now realises that he will have no impact on the city what so ever.

If he had thrown his hat into the ring with the Conservatives, perhaps the Liberals would have aligned themselves with the Labour party. At this point the Greens really would be able to influence the council discussions.

The Labour party’s failure to win in St Clement ward really was its downfall. They have only themselves to blame.

UKIP is in Worcester to stay. We will field candidates in next year’s county election, at the next city election and also at the general election.
