SIR – The children from Warndon Primary School, Worcester, clearly enjoyed their balloon release in celebration of “a new vision for their school”
(Worcester News, May 14) and I wish them success in their continued improvement.
However, I also wish that schools and fund-raising organisations would think twice before arranging balloon releases and give consideration to the possible danger of balloon debris to wildlife, farm animals and marine animals who can mistake the remains for a tasty snack or even get tangled in the string attached, with harmful consequences.
Balloon releases are fun at the time, but no fun for some unfortunate creatures who eventually find them.
