SIR – Re the letter by J L Reynolds (Worcester News, May 31) about the pedestrian who used the ‘keep Worcester moving’ lights on the bridge and held up 37 cars and a bus in the morning rush hour and had walked halfway across the river bridge before they were able to move.
I have to say it does not surprise me.
Even though I now have Parkinson’s disease, when walking from the Foregate to Barbourne in Worcester in the evening rush hour I often keep up with vehicles on the other side travelling north.
Before my affliction, even though possessing a bus pass, I preferred to walk and would follow the bus on which my wife travelled, usually arriving at Barbourne before her.
I know many drivers have to use their vehicles, but if a lot more tried Shanks’s pony they would be pleasantly surprised and feel fitter for doing so.
The rush hour would be a lot lighter also.
