SIR – We would like to express our huge thanks to the villagers of Hinton-onthe- Green who turned out in the pouring rain on Sunday, June 4, to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Despite there being no village hall, more than 70 people came in their wellies and rain coats to celebrate in very leaky party tents and gazebos. We were overwhelmed with the fantastic selection of food provided by villagers, both young and old.
A special thanks to Joyce Webb and Margaret Harris who together brought every child a Diamond Jubilee mug as a memento of the day.
We thank everyone who attended, making it a weekend to remember even though the barbecue and carnival had to be postponed on the Monday because of the weather.
It made all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you.
