SIR – With the recent revelations about Barclays and other banks, it has become clear that the banking system is out of control.
The light-touch regulation favoured by the bankers and politicians has failed us all.
Whatever action is taken by the Government is unlikely to alter the attitudes of the main banks.
Therefore, rather than waiting in hope that these banks will change their ways, we as individuals can take action by no longer banking with them.
There are various other banking options, such as ethical banks, building societies and credit unions.

So, hit the big banks where it hurts them most by withdrawing your money.
