SIR – I note the unenthusiastic tone of a letter ‘Proposals for railway station are so drab’ (Worcester News, July 12) regarding our call for a complete improvement to Foregate Street station in Worcester (Worcester News, July 6).
Perhaps we can focus on the point of our sketch ideas. We are not asking to be “let loose”.
This may well result in a lost opportunity to improve the station and its setting.
The tidy-up exercise may leave the station pretty much as it is for another two decades at least. If Network Rail has insufficient belief to invest in this station maybe closure is the next step, with Shrub Hill becoming the city centre station and a Parkway at Norton. How would that look?
