SIR – I believe there’s a new man taking over the top job with the BBC.

With a salary well over the top, one way to pay for his huge salary would be to sack all the commentators employed by the BBC – at Wimbledon they are totally unnecessary, in fact at times they are a nuisance.

After all, people at centre court watching the tennis don’t have anyone explaining each shot played – in fact, the same should apply to football and snooker.

They are visual sports.

The BBC is employing far to many of these so called commentators who become a nuisance.

I myself turn the sound down on my television so I don’t have to listen to their garbage.
