SIR – How annoying and embarrassing it was to see about 50,000-60,000 people a day not turning up for the Olympic events.

We put on a magnificent opening show only to show the world we couldn’t fill the stadiums.

Why were so many tickets given to big-wigs and VIPs when the public were crying out for them?

Tickets should have been handed in if not being used and either sold cheaply or given away free to the public to fill the gaps, It looked like we were a nation that didn’t relish having the Games in our country.

Unfortunatly, tickets being sold at short notice only benefit people from London and surounding areas, while people living in the north and other distant places miss out.
