SIR – I really did think the council had finally realised that its very high parking charges were driving people away from doing their shopping in Worcester (Worcester News , July 31).

I think with the lower charges more people will use the car parks.

However, they should be used for the convenience of the motorists and not used as a cash cow.

Worcester’s record for handing out parking tickets is the highest after Liverpool, which doesn’t give a good impression of the city. It must deter people from coming here.
