SIR – The fact that Westminster politicians have spent £230,000 of taxpayers’ cash on art, while the country is in recession and most struggle to keep their heads above water is an outrage.
Why do these people think that it is justified to pay such a sum of our money to plush up their offices with paintings, sculptures and busts?
Is this the contempt that they show to the people struggling on the streets?
If they want to kit-out their offices with such extravagance let them pay for it themselves out of their own salary.
The taxpayer already subsidises MPs’ food, housing and transport costs !
