SIR – I totally agree with Chris Mitchell’s views on the lack of diving facilities at Sansome Walk baths, but though the boards are in situ, it is not economic to repair them in view of a proposed new pool.

A city the size of Worcester should have a facility of Olympic standard and I trust the new pool will be constructed as soon as possible.

I myself was inspired by the 1948 Olympics, but sadly facilities were poor in those days.

I often wonder what I might have achieved instead of becoming a Jack of many sports though master of none.

I sincerely hope that Karen Gregor’s sons who were highlighted in the Worcester News on August 23 will not be lost to specialist diving.

The comment of Harpers Leisure spokesperson does seem very poor – that the springboard is open on Sundays from 10am to 11am.

Has cost cutting come to the stage that the pool springboard only warrants a lifeguard for one hour a week?
