SIR – Cricket is my passion.
From an early age I followed my home county, Hampshire, to all their county grounds.
My career brought me to Worcester in the 1970s and I have followed Worcestershire County Cricket Club with equal vigor.
It is so disappointing to watch the demise of our local county team within the first class game.
I doubt that the current crop of players will do much better in Division Two.
The batsman who occupies the number three spot constantly fails to make sufficient runs but, then again, the others aren’t much better.
I think that the Worcestershire Cricket Committee must be complicit in the ongoing decline.
Perhaps the underlying problem is financial?
