SIR – Mr [Allah] Ditta’s own pronouncements on the Dittagate affair make interesting reading.

He described demands for his resignation as “mischief making” and said “I won’t be quitting anything, this is piein- the-sky-stuff”.

I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if his so-called ‘apology’ (worcesternews.co.uk) was written for him, particularly after listening to the recording made in the cemetery.

Perhaps his lack of verbal dexterity has affected Mr Ditta’s ability to answer the questions put to him 􀁥 Where is the itemised invoice detailing the work he claims to have done?

􀁥 Why do the family continue to deny that any work was in fact done?

􀁥 How many other bereaved families have had to settle impromptu accounts in the same way?

􀁥 In short: where is the paper trail, Mr Ditta?

I doubt very much that Allah Ditta can answer any of these questions. His resignation before now should have been a formality.

He does have one remaining hope, though.

Now that a complaint from the family has been made (Worcester News , September 12), any investigation by the standards committee might take some months to complete.

With a bit of luck, he might even be able to draw it out until May 2013.
