SIR – It is clear following the recent angry debate at County Hall (Worcester News, September 14) that many people can see the problems with the design of the filter lane at Whittington island heading to Malvern.

Alas, not Councillor Simon Geraghty. He cannot see the problem ordinary residents of Worcester can, and dismisses them in a rather casual way by saying wait for the safety audit.

I assume he also hasn’t noticed the road markings when approaching the island from St Peter’s either which show ‘straight on’ arrows for the M5 in both lanes.

If my recollection is correct, you have to turn right to get to the M5.

Straight on takes you to the Swan at Whittington.

Nice place though it is, it’s not the M5. Confusing at the very least.

Coun Geraghty seems to be establishing a pattern in his responses to issues of rightful public concern.

His response to the recent Allah Ditta graveyard row was basically the same – can’t see the problem, it’s in his own time.

This is a bit worrying when everyone else can see the problems.

If not a little bit arrogant, perhaps.

He is a representative of said public. Perhaps he should listen a bit more, and be somewhat less dismissive.
