SIR – Re ‘Relegated County aim to finish year on a high’ (Worcester News , September 11).

Yet more spin from the director of cricket at New Road [Steve Rhodes ]. He said the players had a lot of pride to play for, the players wouldn’t be going through the motions and the batters would want to improve their averages.

Look at the performance at Taunton – a repeat of all season long. I have supported the club for more than 40 years and this current team is the worst yet.

The supporters are fed up with the cricket we have had to suffer all year.

Batsmen unable to score 50 or more and only one bowler on the staff who concedes three runs an over in four-day cricket.

All the other bowlers concede far too many runs.

The stats don’t lie – bottom in the Championship and CB40. Does no one care at the club? The current level of performance from the team is not good enough.

The cricket board are to blame for this mess.

Two of the current members are rarely seen on the ground, that says it all.

Supporters and members want answers, all we ever hear about is the lack of finance at the club which means that the team can’t be improved.

The members’ forum no longer takles place so we are unable to get answers from the club.

Perhaps the Worcester News would ask the club how they intend to improve results next season or ask supporters for their opinions on the state of play at New Road.
