SIR – Brits are now paying £8 billion a year for car parking.
In the last year alone prices have soared by 12.5 per cent as many councils try to claw back money from the cuts handed to them by the Government.
So is it any wonder why many shops are boarded up?
City centres need to entice shoppers in to spend, yet many people are not visiting as much as previously due to such high parking fees.
Places such as Worcester have listened to the people and actually reduced parking in some areas by up to 50 per cent (for a period of time) to entice the shoppers back again. More towns need to follow suit.
