SIR – Ushmush83 (worcesternews.co.uk, September 13) says we shouldn’t blame footballers for people spitting in everyday life, nor professinal runners or any other people.
The publicity footballers get on TV depicting this filthy habit in itself conveys a very poor example to youngsters, though I can’t say I have noticed it in other sports.
Isn’t it about time that the football authorities did something to stamp out this disgusting habit, which is quite unnecessary?
