WORCESTER City produced a flat display and lost in the league for the first time since August at Shawbury United on Saturday.

Here, we rate the players…

Club to investigate fracas between City fans

REPORT: Shawbury 2 City 1

ROUND-UP: How Saturday's results affect Worcester City

AS IT HAPPENED: Shawbury 2 City 1

TOM PALMER 6

Could not be singled out over either goal and his kicking was strong enough but did not show the same initiative as Tuesday.

TOM FISHWICK 6

Particularly early on, Fishwick was the stand-out defender and covered a multitude of sins committed by his colleagues.

Unfortunate to get a touch on the opener while trying to cover.

JAMIE SMITH 5

Beaten for speed physically and in thought. The effort was there, perhaps tried too hard following a wobbly start but the block that led to his withdrawal showed great commitment.

ALEXANDRU ALBERT 5

Kept plugging away but playing right-back does not suit him. Again, pushing on to win flick-ons left a chasm down the wing.

MARK SMITH 5

Victim of the space vacated by Albert and of the lack of zest in front of him but Shawbury had too much joy from set-piece deliveries and crosses.

NATHAN HAYWARD 5

High work rate but lacked a spark, like many of his colleagues.

JOSH SARMENTO 5

The odd flash of trickery but nothing to write home about. Unusually quiet and seemed rattled by robust challenges.

STAR MAN - MAT BIRLEY 7

Bust a gut in the middle, carried the fight as the second half drained away without inspiration. Tried to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

LEE HUGHES 6

Became isolated with little happening around him, particularly after the sending off of Mark Danks. His frustration was visible and it affected him at times.

MARK DANKS 3

Whether City would have got any better is questionable but whatever you made of his challenge, Danks did not need to go in. Deserves credit for acknowledging that.

ALEX TOMKINSON 6

Livelier than Sarmento and grappled well for the ball in order to score. Took up different positions and would have felt unfortunate to come off for the tactical reshuffle.

Subs: Reynolds 5 (Tomkinson, h-t), Mole 5 (J Smith, 57), Baldwin 6 (Sarmento, 68). Unused: Griffiths, Gwynne (g/k).
