FRIENDS of a mum battling cancer have appealed for donations to help her make special memories with her young children for what may be the final year of her life.

Lauren Maddock, aged 26, is undergoing gruelling chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in November.

Doctors told her without the treatment she would only have 12 months to live - but have warned her the treatment only has a seven per cent chance of extending her life.

Her friend Dean Austin set up the Go Fund Me page which has already raised £5,000.

Now, Lauren hopes to use the money to make the children’s lives more comfortable and fill what time they have left to make memories. She says she hopes to travel the coast with Penny, six, and Arthur, three.

Lauren said she will also set trust funds up and organise birthday presents and cards for the special occasions she might miss.

She said: “Penny said if there’s money left, she wants to give it to another family with cancer or to a doctor so he can find a cure, so no family gets cancer again.”

Lauren, from Malvern, said her diagnosis hit her hard. She said: “I was smiley and hyper the whole time. Then denial hit after looking at pictures of me and my children on the Malvern Hills. Surely, I’m just a tired mum, right? I haven’t really got the c bomb.

“Once chemo is over, I will await results and then we will decide as a team if having risk reduction surgery is beneficial or if I have a short period of time, the kids and I will bounce off for many adventures. I want to stick around, I have so much love to give and I am so loved by so many people.”

The mum-of-two was told she had grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer on November 12 – the day before her son’s birthday.

Friend Dean Austin and his brothers, Darren and Callum, will take on a sponsored 70-mile bike ride from Lauren’s childhood home Westbury, in Shropshire, to Aberystwyth to boost the appeal. She said: “I am overwhelmed by the go fund me page and I am so proud of Dean and his brothers. I can’t wait to see Dean, Darren and Callum at the finish. I am a very sensitive person so I’m sure there will be tears of joy and appreciation.”

Mr Austin said: “Please if you can give absolutely anything to help us give Lauren days out with her children and making amazing memories then please donate anything you can. It will be hugely appreciated. No one should face cancer especially so young. Let’s get behind this family and help her make amazing memories that her children will remember forever.”
