DEVELOPERS have shown contempt for the residents of Oldbury Road by making a mess, says a city councillor.

St John’s city councillor Richard Udall shared images of the mud on the road and said: “Construction work at Oldbury Road in St John’s. This mess on the public highway is clearly unacceptable.”

He told the Worcester News: “The road is a total mess, mud is sprayed all over everything, cars, houses, the roads. Construction vehicles are constantly coming in and out of the site with no regard to the effect on the residents.

"There has been no attempt to clean or protect the road surface. I have had residents on the phone to me constantly complaining about this terrible issue. We need urgent action to enforce these developers to adhere to the regulations that are in place to prevent this kind of thing happening. There is no need for it.

“This is a total lack of respect for the people who live on this quiet residential street. They should not have to put up with everything being covered in filth and being blocked in and out of their own driveways. Just this week I have had eight phone calls about this one issue. I have been to Highways, the police, and Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) and am waiting for all three of them to get back to me, something must be done to protect the residents of Oldbury Road. All of this could have been easily avoided if the developers could just show some respect to the neighbourhood they are working in.”

Duncan Rudge of MHDC said: “We will ensure concerns raised are investigated and, where appropriate, enforcement action taken to make sure the developer complies with planning conditions. The safety of residents is paramount and we encourage anyone who has any concerns about issues like this to contact planning services at the district council via our website: malvernhills.gov.uk/planning/planning-enforcement”

Signs on site say the developer is United Living on behalf of Fortis. We were unable to contact them.
