A NEW training facility for builders and plumbers looks set to be built in the city as part of a huge multi-million-pound funding bid.

Worcester City Council has revealed plans to submit a £28 million bid to the Government to fund several projects across the city.

The plans include building a second ‘Building Block’ centre in Dines Green which would host workshops developing DIY and building skills including bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, tiling and woodwork.

The council says it hopes to build on the success of the existing facility in Warndon, which has been open for just over five years, and supports around 500 local people each year to develop and improve their building and DIY skills through Logic and City and Guilds accredited courses.

The city council said the popular teaching facility is already fully booked and has a waiting list which is likely to keep growing.
