A MAN who is accused of the murder of Christina Rowe in Worcester is set to appear in court again this week.

He is accused of murdering Christina Rowe, 28, and attempting to murder another person, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Here is a timeline of events in the case:

Wednesday, February 10

Police begin a search in the Diglis area for the body of a woman allegedly murdered by a man.

Police cordoned off three sites in Worcester and a man is arrested on suspicion of murder after a ‘serious incident.’

Officers tape off Diglis footbridge, Cheviot Close and a home in Waterworks Road.

Five police vehicles, including two forensic vans, and a fire and rescue boat crew are at Diglis Bridge as the search takes place.

Forensic experts investigate what appears to be blood spatters found in a trail running down the small Cheviot Close cul de sac, just off Tolladine Road.

Police confirm a man has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder.

Thursday, February 11

Police confirm they have found the body of a woman in the River Severn and her family have been informed.

In a statement they add formal identification has not yet taken place.

The woman is named locally as Christina Rowe.

The Diglis footbridge cordon is removed, but the cordons remain at the two other sites.

Police confirm Charles Byrne, 24, from Waterworks Road, Worcester, has been charged with murder and with the attempted murder of another person, who is not being identified for legal reasons.

Friday, February 12

Charles Byrne appears at Kidderminster Magistrates Court over the two matters, murder and attempted murder.

He appears unemotional throughout the hearing, answering only "yes" when asked to confirm who he was. He enters no plea.

Byrne is remanded in custody and will appear again, this time at Worcester Crown Court, on February 16.

Saturday, February 13

A relative of Christina Rowe says news of her death "did not feel real", and describes her as a "sweet, thoughtful and talented woman."

The police move on from the Waterworks Road address, belonging to Byrne, but they remain at the Cheviot Close address with forensics continuing their work.

Sunday, February 14

Best friend Karla Castro says she is already missing Christina Rowe after her death this week.

Paying tribute she says: "You were a star. You left pieces of you to everyone you met and all I read are good things about you."
