THREE men have denied affray after a fight broke out in Worcester city centre which left a man with facial injuries.

Jack Bennett, aged 21, of High Street, Bromsgrove, Tyler Eley, 19, of Fox Walks Avenue, Bromsgrove and Daniel Hanson, 19, of Connaught Road, Bromsgrove all appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday.

Formally arraigned by the clerk, the three men all denied a single count of affray, said to have been committed on October 17 last year. The charge alleges that they used or threatened unlawful violence towards another and their conduct was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.

The case was prosecuted by Maninder Chaggar who appeared over videolink. Anthony Bell appeared in person for Bennett. Guy Wyatt, also over a live link, represented Hanson. Amrisha Parathalingam appeared in person on behalf of Eley.

Recorder Rachel Brand QC adjourned the case for trial which is expected to involve CCTV footage. The case was placed in a warned list for the week commencing November 22 this year which means it could begin as soon as possible after that date.

The trial is expected to last three to four days. All three defendants were granted unconditional bail.
