A MAN has been charged and is due to appear at court after a ten-hour police incident in a city street.

Ross Dutfield, of St Wulstan’s Close, Worcester was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and driving while disqualified.

The 28-year-old is also charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The charges relate to an incident in St Wulstan’s Close on Monday (January 17).

He was remanded in custody to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday 19 January).

Police officers were called to an address in the road, off Wyld's Lane, to reports of an assault at about 3pm.

Later that evening, the ambulance service arrived at the home to reports of a medical emergency.

A male patient refused to be seen by paramedics and was discharged at the scene.

A large number of emergency vehicles including police cars and an ambulance were at the address until 1am according to an eyewitness.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a medical emergency at a property on St Wulstans Crescent at 6.42pm [on Monday night].

"One ambulance, a paramedic and a HART paramedic attended the scene.

"On arrival, we discovered one male patient.

"However, the patient did not wish to be assessed and was discharged at the scene."
