A DEVELOPER has said it will take an extra month to complete work on an 'unfinished' housing estate.

And St Modwen has said it will be "reviewing its processes" after the various issues that have dogged the 120-home Weogoran Park development over the years.

The developer told us in early November "final touches" were underway to Weogoran Park with a 12-week deadline set, but that deadline has now been missed.

A resident on the estate said "roads are currently in a worse state than they have ever been" and people on the estate were "losing faith" in St Modwen to finish it.

As the estate is unfinished, roads are still yet to be officially adopted Worcestershire Highways - when privately owned roads becomes a public road, managed and maintained by the highway authority.

The resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "They have exceeded the initial 12 week date they gave the Worcester News.

"Three weeks ago they gave us a letter with colour coded plans of when the roads would be done. Three weeks in, just a tiny little area has been done.

"Their focus is on their new development (in St Peter's) and they have basically abandoned this one. The way they have handled all the issues on this site is a disgrace."

A reporter went out to the estate on Tuesday, and found diggers and workmen across the estate working on roads and pavements.

Among the roads unfinished were Vendeen Crescent, Dalesbred Road, and Romney Way - including the entrance to the estate off Whittington Road.

But another resident of Beltex Road said there was some good news there as the majority of the road had been completed in the past fortnight with just the top joining with Romney Way left to complete.

A St Modwen Homes spokesperson said: “There has been an increase in the expected scope of works agreed with the Highways Authority at Weogoran Park for on-site road works.

"These works will now be completed by March 11.

“We are in dialogue with the Highways Authority over an agreed start date for adoptable off-site road works at the junction of Whittington Road and will advise homeowners separately in this regard.

“Although it is not unusual for new homes estates to suffer from prolongation of road works to secure adoption due to the technicalities involved, we will be reviewing our processes moving forward.”
