Drunk man says he is 'deeply ashamed'

A video was circulated online on Sunday about a dad from the town being arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual chat with a girl aged 13, including asking her to send him naked photos.

We have chosen not to reveal his identity until he is charged with an offence.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Following concerns raised by members of the public a 40-year-old man was arrested in Malvern last night (Sunday, May 22) on suspicion of having been engaged in sexual communications with a child. The man remains in custody at this time."

The decoys posted claimed he had been speaking sexually to what he believed to be a 13-year-old child.

A woman, speaking on the four-minute video segment, then says the intention was to confront the suspect 'live' but that they had not been able to do so because he had attended the police station instead.

She tells Facebook followers: "We went to arrest him – well get him arrested – today and the police turned up and they told us to go away. So we said 'no'.

"And then they said 'are you refusing?' and we said 'yes' so we refused to move and then they said well they’re not moving and until he comes back they’re going to stay there.

"So we wouldn’t have had a chance to speak to him anyway."

She told followers: "Then we get a phone call saying the police have told him to turn up at the police station so that was the end of that one so we’ve had to hand over the evidence otherwise he’s not going to get arrested for anything and that’s all I can tell you at the moment'."
