HEAVY rain forced one business to barricade its entrance to stop water from seeping inside the building on Thursday (August 25).

The morning's downpour caused standing water and flash flooding - leading one veterinary surgery to take action.

The car park and entrance at Brentknoll Veterinary Centre on Whittington Road in Worcester flooded.

Brentknoll Veterinary Centre was forced to ask visitors to ring ahead of their visit to avoid the flood in the car park and entrance of the practice.

Staff members are also having to escort clients and their pets to the back of the building to ensure they did not get wet in the flood.

Although the flood cleared up in about two hours, staff swapped their work attire for rain-friendly footwear and scrubs.

Team members had also put up a wooden barricade on the patio outside the practice in the hope that the water would stop pouring into the building.

Despite the barricade, water was still making its way through the entrance of the building.

Staff members said that the practice has fallen victim to flooding before, due to the car park being placed on a ramp, but this incident was described as one of the worst.

A spokesperson from Brentknoll Veterinary Centre said: "This flood is one of the worst we've ever had.

"It flooded for about two hours and the water was coming inside.

"It's cleared up now, but the water was coming inside.

"We tried to barricade the entrance but it still kept coming through.

"It doesn't help that our car park is on a ramp too."

At around 12pm today (Thursday), the practice warned its clients of the car park and entrance had flooded.

The Facebook post read: "If you are coming to see us today please be aware the car park and entrance to the front of the practice is flooded.

"Please call us when you arrive and we will direct you to the back of the building."
