A WORCESTER dad has been winning hearts after appearing on the latest series of a popular Channel 4 dating show.

Married at First Sight is a self-proclaimed social experiment where single people, matched by experts, marry total strangers who they meet for the very first time on their wedding day.

George Roberts, 40, couldn't believe his luck when he found out he had married Miss Great Britain 2020.

But it has not been happily ever after with a difficult honeymoon when his new wife kissed another woman.

George is a financial advisor and business owner from Worcester who previously attended Malvern College and also played for Malvern Rugby Club.

And his wife April is a dress designer from Hampshire.

The couple has not had an easy ride so far after Roberts was left heartbroken when he found out his wife had kissed someone else on their honeymoon.

However, the couple is trying to move past what happened and seem to be enjoying each other's company.

Throughout the show, the couples are given the opportunity to mingle with each other at dinner parties and also get to know their partners through a series of challenges.

A statement shared on the Channel 4 website reads: "Dad-of-four George is generous, loyal and dedicated to his kids.

"After divorcing from his wife, George has struggled to find that special someone who he can share his life with.

"He loves his life in the countryside and lives with his two eldest children, whilst his two younger daughters live with their mother.

"George is content with everything in his life, but there’s something missing - he hopes the relationship experts can solve this for him.

"George is a true and old-fashioned romantic and was heartbroken when his relationship with his wife broke down. He wants someone who excites him, someone to keep him on his toes and who can be open emotionally."

This year's season first aired on Monday, August 29 and brought together 16 singles in their quest to find true love.

New episodes air every day at 9pm, and tv fans might be pleased to know that the show will feature a longer run of 30 episodes this year.

The experts returning for the new series will be Mel Schilling, Paul C. Brunson
and Charlene Douglas.
