Lyppard nursery has been told by Ofsted that it "requires improvement" following its most recent inspection.

Ofsted evaluated the nursery's quality of education as "good", but all other categories fell under the "requires improvement" result.

Inspectors found that, at times, staff were not deployed efficiently across the nursery meaning that children were not adequately supervised.

They reported that children's behaviour "is not always appropriate or managed consistently" adding that "children have clear friendships and are generally respectful and kind to their peers".

"However, at times, the behaviour of some children has a significant impact on other children's engagement in play.

"They argue and snatch toys off each other.

"The poor deployment of staff means that they are not always close at hand to deal with these situations.

"Therefore, the behaviour goes unchallenged."

However, Ofsted also praised Lyppard nursery, based at Lyppard Hub just off of Ankerage Green, for its positives.

Inspectors were pleased with the leadership at the nursery and found that staff are encouraged to undertake training that interests them.

They added: "Staff are very knowledgeable about early childhood education.

"They ensure they provide learning opportunities across all areas of learning which help children to progress in their development.

"Staff use information gained from assessments of children's learning to plan for what children need to learn next.

"They have ambitious goals for each individual child."

Ofsted was also impressed by older children's increasing independence, preparing them for life at primary school.

Children are well engaged and eager to learn at Lyppard Nursery.

Inspectors also commented on the positive relationships between parents and staff.

They said: "Parents are extremely happy with the progress of their children, especially in their socialisation and communication.

"Staff send daily photos to the parents with notes and next steps.

"Parents value the daily information they receive about their child's care and learning."

A spokesperson for Lyppard Grange nursery said: "We are extremely proud of our nursery and the commitment we have to offering the very best to all of our children.

"The level of care we provide is and always has been extremely high and the many parents who have used us know this and support us as we wait for our reinspection."
