A 33-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences including theft, possession of a knife, going equipped for burglary and fraud.

Sam Wood, who had previously been charged with other offences following a manhunt in the Arboretum, was bailed by magistrates but is now suspected of further offences, elsewhere in Worcester.

Wood has now been charged with more dishonesty offences, this time relating to alleged incidents in St John's which took place after he was bailed by magistrates at the weekend.

He has been charged with two thefts from motor vehicle, going equipped for burglary, vehicle interference, fraud, two handling stolen goods, possessing a knife/ sharp pointed article in public place following a series of reports made to police in St John's.

West Mercia Police has confirmed Wood has been remanded in police custody to attend Kidderminster Magistrates Court today (Thursday).

We have previously reported how Wood was charged with theft from a store and theft from cars after he was arrested in the Arboretum last week.

Sam Wood was charged on Saturday after he was arrested in the Arboretum in Worcester on Friday. Large numbers of police were deployed to the area.

We have previously reported how patrol officers made an arrest at the back of a property in Flag Meadow Walk.

Wood appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster on Saturday where he was granted bail.

Police arrested and charged Wood after offences in St John's involving cars which led to the focus switching to that area following a rise in vehicle crime. Thefts were reported in Middle Road, Whites Road, Henwick Road, Oldbury Road, Henwick Avenue and Rushwick.

DI Dave Knight of South Worcestershire Proactive CID, based at the police station in Castle Street, said at the time: "It appears that insecure vehicles are being targeted. Just double-check your vehicles are locked. Any suspicious sightings please call us."

The advice from West Mercia Police is to call 101 to report any offences but to call 999 in the event of a crime in progress.
