THE HOME of a former popular restaurant and cocktail bar in Worcester has been leased by a new owner.

It is not known who will be taking on the Old Rectifying House but a To Let sign has been updated to say there will be new tenants.

Previously home to the Old Rec, on North Parade adjacent to the River Severn, the building has a large sign saying "Let By Subject To Contract" outside the building.

In May, we reported that the distinctive black and white building was officially listed for sale at £750,000 by AMT Commercial.

It is not known at this time who has leased the building and what it will be used for.

The former pub closed its doors in February 2022 and never reopened after flooding from Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin in February.

The venue was flooded three times in the past three years, following floods in January 2021 and in February 2020.

After the February 2020 flood, the water was a metre deep which led to an extensive refurbishment with a new kitchen and bathrooms, and the bar having to be rebuilt.

The Old Rectifying House previously had a mention in the Michelin Guide which mentions its riverside location

It said: "With shabby-chic décor, young chefs hard at work in the open kitchen, a cocktail list and a soundtrack of jazz, blues and soul, this mock-Tudor building overlooking the river brings a hipster vibe to Worcester.

"Appealing dishes have a British slant and there’s a well-thought-out vegan menu too."

The team behind The Old Rectifying house opened a new restaurant in Worcester earlier this year.
