AROUND 2,000 people attended an open day at Droitwich Fire Station, raising thousands for charities and good causes.

An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 people attended the event on Saturday.

Just under £2,000 was collected and this will be split between the Fire Fighters Charity, Droitwich Fire Cadets and a local food bank.

The Air Ambulance were also present and collecting donations on the day.

We have previously reported how there were demonstrations of life-saving work by firefighters including cutting crews and use of the aerial ladder platform. Children also had the chance to look inside ambulances, police cars and fire engines.
