A PROLIFIC thief has been jailed for his latest offending.

Sam Wood appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday, (October 31), and was sentenced for theft from a shop, theft from a motor vehicle, fraud by false representation, and two charges of handling stolen goods.

Wood had previously pleaded not guilty to the shop theft charge, being found guilty at a trial.

Magistrates heard that on September 14 this year Wood went into TK Maxx - a shop he had previously been banned from entering - and stole a coat valued at £49.99.

Shawn Williams, prosecuting, said Wood had stolen a white Samsung mobile phone and three pairs of sunglasses from a vehicle in another offence that took place on September 23.

The stolen goods offence took place on September 27 this year, Wood having in his possession stolen bank cards.

And the court heard the fraud offence took place on September 27 - Wood using a stolen credit card to make a gain of £127.

Wood was jailed for a total of eight weeks by the magistrates.

He was ordered to pay a total of £85.79 compensation to the victims of the offending.

There was no order for costs or a victim surcharge due to Wood's limited means.

Magistrates agreed the total could be added to the outstanding fines and costs Wood owes from previous offending, which is being deducted from his benefits.
