However, at this stage, these reports are still under investigation and the action was described initially as a safeguarding warrant over concerns about a vulnerable person or people being exploited.

Immigration enforcement officers were also present as West Mercia Police searched the property - a red brick building opposite the dental surgery - wearing blue forensic gloves, examining several documents and opening bags and suitcases.

At one stage four police vehicles, including marked vans and cars, attended and officers in plain clothes and uniform, including community support officers, were seen coming in and out of the address as they made various enquiries.

Safer neighbourhood reassurance patrols also took place, allowing officers to explain what was happening which they said were well-received by members of the community.

Sgt Wayne Hurley, leading the search, said: “We are looking at concerns with regards to vulnerable people at the address.

"We have attended the address to effect a search to ensure the safeguarding of a person inside.

"The individual is not vulnerable in any way shape or form we can establish.

"We are not looking into making any arrests.

"We are going to engage with the community to give them appropriate information."

He added: “There were concerns it was a brothel. But we have not been able to establish that but we are looking into it.”

Officers said at this stage it was not thought to be an immigration issue and they had 'no concerns at the moment.

Sgt Ed Shotton, also present at the search, said: "The community raised concerns the premises were being used as a brothel. Officers received the intelligence and executed the warrant today and it remains under investigation. One of the priorities is ensuring vulnerable people are not exploited."
