A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found in the street with potentially life-changing injuries.

West Mercia Police attended the Westlands estate in Droitwich after reports a man had been seriously injured on Tuesday (January 24) and several roads had to be closed.

The incident happened at the junction of Drovers Way and Westwood Road.

DI Chris Percival of Worcester Reactive CID said: "The community at Droitwich will be aware that at 8.30pm on Tuesday, January 24 a number of streets were shut by police in the area of the Westlands in Droitwich. 

"This was because a local adult male was found with serious injuries in the street.

"A male from Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"He is currently being held at Worcester Police Station for interviewing purposes.

"The suspect and the victim are known to each other.

"There is no wider risk to the community."

It is understood the man suffered serious leg injuries which could be potentially life-changing. Roads were closed while forensics teams conducted an investigation.
