A 29-YEAR-old man has admitted theft and an assault, but denies committing another assault. 

The case of Bobby Smith, of Orchard Grove, Littleworth, near Worcester, was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (January 27).

At the start of the afternoon hearing Belinda Ariss, defending, said Smith had earlier attended court but had been forced to leave for medical reasons.

After being excused absence by magistrates, Mrs Ariss entered pleas on behalf of the defendant. 

Smith admits one assault by beating which took place in Worcester on October 26 last year.

But he denies another assault alleged by the prosecution to have taken place in the city on the same day. 

Smith also pleaded guilty to theft from a shop.

That offence took place at the Co-op in Lichfield Avenue, Worcester, on October 30 -  Smith stealing £30 worth of laundry products.

Smith's trial for the assault was scheduled to take place at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on March 10. 

Smith has conditional bail, including the condition he does not contact the prosecution witnesses.
