AN 'amazing' school in Worcester has been nominated as primary school of the year with the head teacher describing staff as 'thrilled'.

The education awards are now open for nominations and among those to be nominated is St George's CE Primary School in St George's Lane North, Worcester.

Headteacher Louise Norris said: "We are thrilled to hear that we have been nominated. As a school community, we work hard to nurture every child and care about every family. The staff are committed to ensuring that all children thrive in school so it’s an honour to hear that someone has chosen to recognise us in this way.”

The person who nominated St George's for the award said: "St George’s have recently had Ofsted and achieved a ‘Good’.

"This is an amazing achievement from requires improvement not too long ago. They care about every single member of their school community. They are inclusive. They encourage the best in every pupil. They cherish and care for their staff team. They are just amazing."

One parent said: "Louise Norris and her team are just amazing. They’ve transformed my children’s lives. Thank you."
