A HUGELY popular light trail has made its fourth comeback to the streets of Worcester.

'Love The Arbo' is a free enchanted trail of light for all to explore and enjoy.

The festival kicked off on February 11 this year and scores of people from Worcester and further afield arrived at the town centre to take part.

The Arboretum Residents Association organised the first event in 2019 and asked residents to create something magical in their windows.

And, since then, the community has come up with innovative and eye-catching creations that have brought more visitors to Arboretum.

This year residents lit up their windows with a wide range of creative pieces of artwork for the three-day event.

One resident created a backdrop of London, while another created a beaming image of the sun.

Councillor Jenny Barnes, who represents the area, said: "The only thing I was disappointed about was that we couldn't put the lights on the canal because the bats fly when it is warm.

"But the weather was great and it was a spectacular event.

"Events like this are absolutely essential for people. I put some of my councillor money towards people who needed money for the right material.

"We've had Covid-19 and now the cost of living crisis, there really isn't much joy at the moment.

"But the community coming together in a simple way is just really important.

"It is fundamental to have joy without spending lots of money.

"There were lots of families who were walking around for free with their dogs, and there are other light shows in Worcester, but this is where they live so it makes it extra special."

Visitors will also be able to take a look around the light trail between 6pm and 9pm on Sunday and Monday this week.

Mrs Barnes added "The first night was quite special, especially because new residents, who had no idea what the event was, wanted to take part, so they went to the shop to get material at the last minute.

"There is enormous artistic talent in the community so it is definitely worth a walk."
