A POPULAR vegan restaurant in Worcester has made "the difficult decision" to close for good - just three months after it reopened.

The new owners of Be The Change in New Street said they had "given it our best shot" but were shutting for good on Saturday (April 1)

Be The Change (BTC) on New Street was one of the go-to vegan eateries in the city for the past five years.

The restaurant reopened under new ownership in 2022 after closing 'temporarily' and then being listed for sale in the same year.

The reason behind the recent permanent closure is still unknown.

Worcester News has contacted Be The Change but they have not provided a comment.

A spokesperson for the business said: "We have taken the difficult decision to close the doors at BTC.

"We have given it our best shot and understand that it was no easy position to fill.

"As we come to terms with this decision, we thank everyone who has supported our small business over the past few months.

The business previously had two different locations in Worcester, including a restaurant on New Street and Be The Change Bake A Difference on Cornmarket.

Be The Change opened its cafe in 2018, which proved to be so popular that it opened a second venue, a restaurant, on New Street in 2021.

But in September 2022, the restaurant said it would be closing for two weeks with no specific reason given.

A post on its Facebook at the time said that "things have been very tough lately" and the closure was "through nobody's fault".

Be The Change then appeared for sale on Rightmove for £325,000 'with vacant possession.

It was then sold, and the latest owners took over the business.
