A SKYDIVE for a beloved grandfather will follow a family fun day which already raised over £2,000 for the city hospice which cared for him.

More than 350 people attended the Family Fun Day at the Brunswick Arms in Malvern Road, St John's in Worcester on Saturday to mark a year since the loss of popular Brian Robinson who died of cancer aged 87.

The fundraiser featured a charity auction, a raffle, tombola, face painting, bouncy castle, live singer (Matt Peplow) and karaoke. So far, the event has made over £2,200 for St Richard's Hospice in Worcester.

Samuel Robinson, who set up a JustGiving page, said: "The care he and all of our family received from St Richard's Hospice was outstanding. From daily care at home to eventually 24/7 care at the hospice, they made the unbearable bearable.
"Being a big family man and loving the comfort of his own home, we were all very apprehensive to let him go into the hospice but we were reassured every step of the way.

"They knew all of us by our first names and took a genuine interest in my grandad's personality and hobbies. The little touches such as filling up the bird feeders on his patio and having the doors open so he could hear the birds in his final days really touched us.

"My grandad was a very charitable man and participated in fundraising all his life, so it seems fitting we should follow suit.
"We want to raise as much money as we can to give back to the wonderful St Richards Hospice all in memory of a true legend.
Let’s face it, he would walk to the other end of the world for us, so jumping out of a plane is nothing."

Shane Griffin, landlord of the pub, said: "Brian and the family received outstanding care and support from St Richards and they wanted to give back.

"We are more then a pub and on Saturday it showed as a community how amazing the community are in St John’s coming together I would to thank everyone who was involved and came along and supported this great day."
