A POST Office has extended its hours to fit around customers who work nine to five.

Ombersley Road Post Office has undergone many transformations.

Sharmilan Milan and Dinesh Nathan, the two newest postmasters, said they want to change how the post office can best serve its regular customers.

Sharmilan Milan, postmaster, said: "We changed the times for the people who go to work because it avoids rush time.

"So they have plenty of time to visit and drop off their parcels.

"If they work nine to five, it takes the stress off them."

The post office was open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am and 1pm on Saturdays.

However, it will now be open until 9pm on weekdays.

This week the shop will also undergo another transformation and will have a three-space car park to assist customers needing to nip in and customers who struggle with mobility.

Mr Milan said people sometimes struggle to access the post office because there is nowhere to park.

The post office also has plans for the future to improve the way customers use the service.

Mr Sharmilan added: "We are looking to improve as we go and try to open several days a week for the post office in the next few months."

Ombersley Road Post Office opened in March after a month-long refit when the business changed hands.

The post office was handed over from Donna Evans, the former postmistress of 21 years, to Mr Nathan and Mr Milan.

The two decided to change the post office completely, giving it a new lighted ceiling and serving various treats and alcohol.

The pair took over the business on November 2.

The shop will be open Monday to Sunday between 5.00am to 10.00pm.
