One of the oldest pubs in the county is under new management.

Husband and wife Lina and Lawrence Butler, are excited to take over The Kings Arms, which is nestled in the centre of Ombersley.

The timber-framed Grade II listed building dates back to the 15th century, and Mrs Butler said the pub's character and idyllic surroundings tempted them into taking it over.

The couple were living on the outskirts of the village when they heard the news that the pub was seeking new managers and was up for a joint challenge.

"We saw the building and fell in love with it - we definitely think it's haunted, but it did not put us off at all," Ms Butler said.

Ms and Mr Butler met in the hospitality industry and have worked together ever since.

"We love pubs, and on our days off, we go to a pub at the first chance," Ms Butler added.

"A lot of couples tend not to work together, but for us, it works really well.

"We have a different set of components and come together with them.

"I am quite passionate and fiery, and he is a calm and collected person."

The two have already started to make changes to the pub and hope to use Mr Butler's skills in the kitchen and Ms Butler's skills at the front of the house to keep the pub in the heart of the community.

So far, the menu has completely changed, with Ms Butler adding that everything will be made fresh on-site, even down to the sauces used in their dishes.

The two also hope to set up quiz nights and raffles to raise money for Worcestershire charities and to utilise the pub's function room for local group events.
