Birmingham restaurants nominated for prizes at the British Restaurant Awards 2023

Opheem is competing for Best Luxury Restaurant award as well as the Restaurant of the Year award and Best International Cuisine prize.

The restaurant is also nominated for the Best Restaurant in Birmingham category and has received praise on Tripadvisor from its visitors.

Opheem has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the review site from 804 reviews.

One reviewer wrote: “It’s been difficult to write this review as I found a lack of words to fully express just how good the evening was.

“We experienced the 10 course taster menu, part of an overnight package with the Bloc hotel. The bargain of the year! Experience is the right word as calling it a meal does not do it justice.

“The restaurant is impressive, ambiance perfect, service attentive without going over the top, and the food. Oh the food! It is sublime. My palate was blessed with every course. We shared a wine flight, the pairing with the food was perfect, and the quantity just right for sharing.

“The pre meal ‘snacks’ and post meal sweets make for more than 10 courses. We were there from 20:30 until just after midnight. To quote Sandy Denny “Who knows where the time goes”.

“We have had the good fortune to eat in many starred restaurants over the years, some with more than a single star. Opheem deserves more, it is Simply the best.”

Another said: “Had no idea what to expect but from our arrival onwards our evening was superb. All of the food was delicious and the service in the restaurant was seamless. It is lovely to see the chef patron at work alongside his staff and to have him serving his customers and chatting.”
