THE 'best fighters in the city' are due to go toe to toe at a big boxing show which will be a platform for established names and up-and-coming pugilists with a point to prove.

The 11/11 Last One Standing boxing show is due to take place at DP Boxing in Sherriff Street in Worcester on Saturday, November 11.

The fully licensed championship boxing will take place in the heated marquee with a capacity for 'hundreds of people' and spectators have been promised 20 plus bouts, including four championship fights.

Organised by Takeover Promotions, there will be four championship fights showcasing boxing talent from the city with a stable of fighters from DP Boxing taking on fighters from across the country to prove their mettle.

Organiser Jon DP Shaw said: "It's going to be the best card yet. I'm bringing back all the old school fighters, all the best fighters.

"All of the last events have been successful. The show is expected to sell out.

"The quality and standard of the fighting is going to be even better this time."

Coach Jon DP Shaw, the organiser and promoter of the event, is also planning to make the show his comeback fight after major surgery.

The 33-year-old of Worcester had surgery earlier this year after suffering a 'sustained bilateral pectoralis major rupture' during a boxing match, an injury which required two operations to correct.

The championship fights will involve five two-minute rounds with 10oz gloves.

The show will also see the return of the 'Worcester Whirlwind', Kelsey Martin-Davies, 15, of Warndon, Worcester.
