AN overweight dad dropped six-and-a-half stone after being inspired by his wife's weight loss and "feels like the husband and father he always wanted" to be.

Ollie Cooper, 29, was 23st and wore a size 3XL at his heaviest and ate five takeaways a week - but he no longer has a dad bod.

He feared he wouldn't be able to play rugby again after breaking his ankle during a game due to his weight and would be in constant pain.

Ollie watched his wife, Elizabeth, 29, lose 7st 10lbs and felt inspired to make a change for himself.

He joined the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan - which involves smoothies and shakes - and has lost 6st 7lbs.

The dad-of-one is now a slim 16st 2lbs, wearing a size large and says he feels like a "new person".

"I have no pain at all, I am a new person. I am training to run the London Marathon and I am going back to playing rugby.

"It has been life-changing for me, as far as a life experience goes it has taught me a huge amount about diet and what you should be eating.

"It has also taught me a lot about myself and what I can do if I put my mind to something.

"The big reason for me was my wife started losing weight this time last year. I watched her lose four stone in four months."

Ollie has always struggled with his weight and would snack on meal deals and sweet treats.

He said: "I have always been overweight. Up to the age of 20 I have always been able to play a good standard of rugby.

"Inside I would have rather looked like the other lads.

"I have always wanted to lose weight but never really knew how I could do it.

"People would tell me that I like Chinese food too much to change and I didn't really like eating vegetables or salad."

Ollie's wife, Elizabeth, a care assistant, started the 1:1 Cambridge Weight Plan in September 2022 and lost 7st 10lbs motivating Ollie to follow the same route.

Before losing weight Elizabeth weighed 12 stone 10lbs and wore a size 22 and now weighs 7st lbs and wears a size 10.

Ollie decided to give the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan a go in January 2023 and ditched the daily takeaways.

After losing four stone by switching up his diet he started going for regular bike rides and runs to shed the extra two stone.

Now 16st 2lbs, Ollie said he feels "happy" with how he looks.

Ollie said: "I genuinely like what I see. This is the first time I can say I am happy with how I look.

"My stomach is flat and I can go clothes shopping.

"Clothes shopping was always something I hated as I never knew if shops would have my size.

"Now, I am happy with my appearance, life is pretty good."

Talking about her husband's weight loss, Elizabeth said: "I am incredibly proud of Ollie and what he has achieved.

"He has become the man, the husband, the father he always wanted and he believes in himself now."
