A DEVASTATED dad has been told no criminal action will be taken after a swim school closed suddenly and left hundreds of parents out of pocket.

Nemo Swim School which used the pool at New College in Worcester closed suddenly last month, causing children to lose out on lessons and parents unable to reclaim their money.

Parent Alex Mace of Gregorys Bank, was one of those who suffered after paying £246 for swimming lessons for his boys, Henry, 10, and Laurie, seven.

The 41-year-old  reported the matter to Action Fraud but has now been told no further action will be taken as some parents have won refunds from their banks rather than through the swim school.

Mr Mace said: "I am very disappointed that Action Fraud has decided that it could not identify a line of enquiry to investigate Scott McKenzie and Nemo Swim School."

He said he provided names, addresses, communications and requests sent to him for payment for the lessons.

"Hundreds of parents have lost hundreds of pounds to this man," he said.

Mr Mace now feels reporting the matter has been a waste of time.

Action Fraud wrote to Mr Mace and said: "On this occasion, based on the information currently available, it has not been possible to identify a line of enquiry which a law enforcement organisation in the United Kingdom could pursue.

"Registered users of our service have the opportunity to update their report, so if you have additional information about your crime which you believe could change the assessment, please log in to your account and submit that information.

"We continuously assess the content of individual and linked crime reports; in the event that a line of enquiry is identified we will provide you with an update."

Parents learned via a WhatsApp message a swim school for children has closed with 'immediate effect', leaving them hundreds of pounds out of pocket.

Members received a WhatsApp message on Saturday, September 2 from Scott Alan McKenzie on behalf of the business, telling them the swim school has closed with immediate effect.

Mr McKenzie said: "I booked all pools to continue this term but after working a secondary job and aiming to raise further capital I was unable to do so.

"I became insolvent as of yesterday [Saturday] and therefore can no longer trade.

"This is not a decision I wanted to make, and I have worked tirelessly to provide further capital."
