La Toya Jackson has taken issue with Harry Styles being dubbed the 'new King of Pop' on a Rolling Stone UK cover earlier this year.

This surprising declaration took place during an interview on the radio station KIIS FM.

The American singer and elder sibling of legendary pop icon Michael Jackson, 67, asserted that the coveted 'King of Pop' title firmly belonged to her brother rather than the Redditch-born Styles, 29, Mail Online reports.

La Toya expanded on her strong conviction during the interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, saying about her brother: "He was incredible and I don't think anyone can ever top him.

"I would love to meet the person that could do that."

However she also spoke highly of Styles, expressing her admiration for his performance abilities following the blockbuster success of his world tour, Love On Tour, which grossed just shy of $95m and sold 720,000 tickets according to Variety.

La Toya told hosts Jackie 'O' Henderson and Kyle Sandilands: "You know, [Harry is] a great entertainer. He’s wonderful. I truly believe that.

"I’m not being biased, but I think that my brother is the greatest of all time and he always will be."

Michael Jackson, who died at only 50 due to a heart attack induced by the drug Propofol, had earned the 'King of Pop' title by the '80s.

Notwithstanding the controversies that clouded his career, he remains a venerated cultural figure of the 20th century.

Different as they are, Styles has been blazing his own trail in the music industry since his debut solo release, Sign of The Times back in 2017, with his undeniable worldwide acclaim earning him the recognition from Rolling Stone.
