DOZENS of bikers travelled through the streets of Upton today for the funeral of a biker who died in a crash.

Members of the WAC Motorcycle Club and the Steel Horse Bike Club joined the family of Shaun Dufty to say their goodbyes in a funeral procession from Mr Dufty's home in Welland Road.

Instead of a traditional hearse, Mr Dufty made his final journey in a Triumph Bonneville motorbike hearse and, although rain was intermittent, the sunshine came out in full force as the procession travelled through Upton's town.

One onlooker said: "What a beautiful way to honour somebody, it was very special to see."

Alan Burton, a WAC Motorcycle Club member and friend of Mr Dufty, said the service was lovely and a lot of memories were shared.

He said: "It was lovely, his son gave a wonderful speech and his daughter also prepared some touching words which were read out at the service.

"He was idolised by his grandchildren, and the service touched a lot of memories with his family from over the years.

"We are all at the WAC club now remembering Shaun together. He was a good-natured, kind and honest friend and we will miss him very much."

His family said their world has been shattered by his loss and they have been left with a huge hole in their hearts.

The family said: "Shaun was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and had a wide circle of friends.

“He was a fun-loving man who was a member of two motorbike clubs, enjoying riding his bikes with the bike members on Thursdays and Sundays and went to regular bike meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

“His hobby was getting 1980’s bikes and restoring them back to their original condition. He enjoyed his foreign holidays, snorkelling, loved his food and had an amazing zest for life.

“Shaun was a genuine, loving trustworthy man. Our world has been shattered by his loss and we have been left with a huge hole in our hearts.”

Mr Dufty, from Upton-Upon-Severn, was riding his motorcycle along the A470 Rhayader to Llangurig in Wales at approximately 8.55am, on Sunday, October 8, when he was involved in a crash.
