A boy seriously hurt when he was in a collision with a car is a pupil at the nearby school as the co-leader of the city council calls for speed bumps.
The boy, aged six, was involved in a collision with a car in Stanley Road, in Worcester, on Friday, suffering 'serious injuries'.
However, West Mercia Police has said doctors believe the boy will make a full recovery after the incident at about 3pm outside Stanley Road Primary School.
A spokesperson for Stanley Road Primary School said: "We confirm the boy is a child from our school. We have been in touch with family and can confirm that he is responding well to treatment. As a school community, we will continue to support the family."
Cllr Lynn Denham, joint leader of Worcester City Council said: "I'm glad to hear that the little boy is doing well and will make a full recovery.
"There are long-standing traffic problems in this area. There are three schools very close to each other on narrow streets with too many cars. Cars and children don't make a good mix on the road."

The Labour city councillor for Cathedral Ward and county councillor for Rainbow Hill Division, said: "Since I became County Councillor in 2021 I've had several meetings with parents, residents, the schools, the police and highways officers to talk about these problems.
"It's been difficult to get any agreement on what measures can be implemented. I don't want to presume the outcome of the investigation but I have today asked the County Council to see if it is possible to install speed bumps on Stanley Road."
We have also approached Worcestershire County Council for a comment but have yet to receive a response.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said today (Monday): "The young boy who was involved in the incident on Friday is still in hospital but doctors are hopeful of a full recovery."
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the crash which involved a Ford Fiesta.
Investigating officers are appealing for information from the public including dash-cam footage after the pedestrian was hurt in the incident.
PC Warren said on Friday: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident [on Friday] afternoon.
"A six-year-old boy was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital with serious injuries.
“We are especially keen to see any dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the incident.
"If you have any information, please contact us.”
Stanley Road was closed in the wake of the crash. Two ambulances were at the scene and the critical care team while there was a heavy police presence.
