A GARDEN centre has been transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland this Christmas with a spectacular light trail leaving visitors spellbound.

St Peter's Garden Centre in Worcester is full of elves, reindeer, snowmen and a festive light trail which has cast a spell on visitors this Christmas.

In the heart of the trail sits Santa himself in his cosy yurt, flanked by two reindeers beneath a canopy of stars and bearing gifts for the children.

Already more than 1,000 people have signed up for the trail - but there is still space available for people to book their place. The trail opened on December 4 and runs until Christmas Eve.

The centre has been transformed into "St Peter's Street", described by organisers as 'a magical world of twinkling lights, fragrant evergreens, and glistening ornaments' showcasing the 'exquisite Christmas collection'.

Another draw this year has been the Mini Funfair, bringing a spot of festive tradition with a Toy Carousel, trampolines and chair-o-planes (£1.50 per ride).

The centre in Norton Road, Brockhill Village, Worcester played host to the light trail for the first time last year but general manager Stuart Beasley said even more lights have been added this year.

He said: "It has been hugely popular. The reaction has been really positive. They have loved it. We have certainly appealed to families with everything that is going on. We are proud to have become a family destination for all things Christmas.

Elves including Emma Tinsley, 16, and Hollie Williams, 16, provided a welcome to families but one of the highlights had to be Santa in his 'cosy yurt' with a real beard to give a touch of extra festive authenticity.
